I get so tired of weird people attacking the AΩ and the HOGD out of sheer ignorance over and over. I get such nonsense quite frequently, but this time, it has gone too far. Recently, some "know it all" named Jochen Van Aelten wrote on our YouTube channel in response to this video...

"If your only goal is to bring Magick to the people the why are your courses so expensive ?I think your only in it for the glory and to make money ! The Golden Dawn back in the day's even had a rule that you could not ask money for lessons.

The only thing you could do then is to not take a huge profit on what you claim is actually Magick!
The content of your courses try to make people believe that casting spells and Magick is the same thing, which it is NOT!!
Even the quality of what you are selling with a huge profit is far below the standards of what Magick actually means!

The above is so over the top that I took the time to set this yoyo straight, as follows:

To begin with, the Alpha Ωmega is a free church and not a business, so your bizarre rant shows only how clueless you are. 

FYI, the AΩ uses the  funds from our courses for many things, including funding the many free services we provide for the esoteric community, like for example producing of the free magick training video you just watched. 

Or did you think that video just fell out of the sky? No. It did not. It cost real money to produce in the real world. The Alpha Ωmega fully funded the production of that video, not only so that you could watch it for free, but so that you would not even have to watch YouTube ads before it. 

Or did you even notice that YouTube ads are turned off on our videos? Of course not. That is how oblivious you are. 

Our courses, by the way, are by no means expensive, especially considering the bi-weekly or monthly live classes we provide, but of course you don't know that either, which is weird for a man who presumes to pass judgement on the Alpha Ωmega without even knowing what the hell he is talking about. 

So you have that part of your rant abysmally wrong too. Au contraire. Our courses are of great value and they fund the mission of the Alpha Ωmega as well the many wonderful free services we provide for the esoteric community. 

Or maybe you didn't even notice the absence of a collection plate at the end of our free daily livestream ritual practice streamed 24/7 on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Periscope. Now how do you think all of that got paid for? Do you imagine it was Santa's eves, perhaps? 

As a matter of fact, Jochen, you are so abysmally clueless that there can be only three possibilities. Either: 

[1] you are only 10 years old (in which case you get a pass)

[2] you have been living in a bubble or on a remote island leaving you so clueless, or 

[3] you are being deliberately deceptive in order to mislead our viewers. 

I am pretty sure its number 3, considering your defense of that pervert Crowley. 

Oh And by the way... YES it was very expensive back in the day under Mathers to study with the Golden Dawn. You are wrong about that too, so you are 3 for 3 for cluelessness here. 

Nonetheless, for what its worth, thank you for sharing your demonstrably ignorant opinions, as I am sure there is someone here who will find my clarification enlightening.

SMACKDOWN: Leslie McQuade Just OWNED Tarot Author Mary K. Greer!

As you are aware, America has been thrown into chaos following the election, with the left controlled fake media fear mongering non-stop. This has led even to riots. I get concerned therefore when people in authority positions who should know better, stir up unnecessary trouble. I was astonished when yesterday Leslie showed me the Facebook page of would-be Tarot expert, Mary K. Greer, where I read:

You know. I am getting really fed up with this kind of senseless fear mongering and demonization of mainstream Trump voters as Alt-Right (read "white nationalist" or "racist"). It is precisely this kind of thing that is inciting the riots in America since the election.

I therefore went over and pointed out to Mary that calling the management of Breitbart news "anti-Semites" is not very bright since Breitbart's founder and present management are Orthodox Jews. For pointing this out - I was summarily blocked!

Bad idea. There are few things that get Leslie McQuade riled up more than this kind of nonsense. 

For those who may not know yet, Leslie McQuade is a trained anthropologist and has worked on digs for the Carnegie-Mellon Museum, for the Japanese government, and in Kazakhstan. Leslie an Alexandrian Wiccan High Priestess in a lineage descending almost directly from Janet Farrar through the Hibernian line. Leslie is also a Co-Freemason (33º Degree), a shamanic practitioner and presently serves as Cancelliaria of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (AΩ) and 2d Rosicrucian Adept of the Rosae Rubeae et Aurea Crucis (R.R. et A.C).

Leslie then went to Mary's page and, seeing what transpired next, proceded to take Greer to school. Before Mary could resort to censorship AGAIN, Leslie had managed to first expose the hidden racism and anti-Semitism inherent in Greer's arguments - which, even given two opportunities, Mary declined to disavow.

One wonders if leftists looking for racists under rocks everywhere, should perhaps instead look in a mirror!

Occultists Claim "Magick is NOT Real!" Scathing Attack on Griffin & McQuade

Earlier today, anonymous naysayers wrote a scathing article on an occult paparazzi blog attacking Leslie McQuade and I.

Basically, they said the binding spell, which hundreds of Magicians and Witches worldwide took part in on Dec 21, had no effect on Daesh - and I am being delusional by claiming articles I posted (which were written AFTER the spell, showing serious damage to Daesh) had very rational and non-magical explanations.

No doubt there are non-magical explanations for ALL the damage Daesh sustained after we cast our binding spell and directed the damage Daesh does back on them.

What experienced Magician can't come up with perfectly non-magical explanations for ALL their spells?

What skeptic can't deny the power of Magick and miracle if they want to?

Funny enough, the naysayers point out the damage to Daesh was the result of Russian fighter jets and a vastly overwhelming force at the city of Rahmadi.

I'm not sure what they'd like to see to prove the spell worked!

Perhaps if a ray of magical energy blazed out of my eyes like Superman, then down from the sky and tied itself around all of the Daesh terrorists and leaders, then transmogrified like in a Harry Potter movie into ropes and chains to keep them from doing anymore harm...

Perhaps then the naysayers would be satisfied.

Here's the truth: Magick is REAL.

It's not a coincidence that those news stories came out mere days after hundreds of magicians banded together and raised our power to keep Daesh from hurting anyone else.

It was the manifestation of our united will into this world. 

It was confirmation that what we did - worked!

And making fun of Leslie and I for pointing out how much power YOU raised, and congratulating YOU, our fellow magician, for making a positive change in the world with your magick…

Well it's just ignorant and inexcusable.

It was shocking that they started picking apart Leslie's spell, which she created to help others who needed some guidelines.

Neither one of us wanted to impose OUR Magickal systems on anyone, so the spell was very, very generic, which isn't to say it isn’t powerful, just that it wasn't designed using only one tradition. 

Some people used Leslie's spell, others used their own. Didn't matter, the intent and result was the same, Daesh got pummeled by Russian jets and Iraqi forces.

Oh yea, that's another thing the occult paparazzi claimed...

… because much of the damage done to Daesh was done by Russian jets, and Daesh doesn’t have a air force, then that couldn't have been a result of the massive, worldwide cooperative spell we cast. 

Clearly, the only way murder can come back on the murderers in a binding spell, is by killing them in EXACTLY, PRECISELY the same way they murdered.

It's really rather sad on their part.  I wouldn’t even mention it except that they are making light of the good YOU have done for the world by raising YOUR magickal will with all the other magicians around the world.

Remember, Magick is real. We can make a difference.  

You are empowered, and we thank you for helping to end the murderous thugs who tried to steal the name of the Goddess Isis.

Our magickal will has just begun to manifest - and Daesh will find each time they hurt someone it will come back on them in spades!

Wiccan Origins and Born-Again Crowleyanity

Over on his Talking About Ritual Magick blog, Llewellyn author Frater Barrabbas (Brian Watling) wrote:

I wrote and thanked Frater Barrabbas for pointing out all the buzz in the magickal commiunity over the "Ipssissimus" typo on our order's newly redesigned website HERE.  In case you missed it before, our order just completely remodeled our website and online school; classroom, curriculum, teaching methods - everything - including bi-weekly Magick webinars FREE! for Golden Dawn members.

I also had a very serious word with our order's marketing company about the typo!

However, Barrabbas/Watling continues:

[Gerald Gardner's] "The Great Rite, however, was based on the Thelemic Gnostic Mass."

In my opinion, Thelemic zealots have overstated Crowley's influence on Wicca for years now, while simultaneously ignoring the importance to Wicca of Gerald Gardner's visit to the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii during his sojourn in Italy prior to formulating Wicca.

In Witchcraft Today, Gerald Gardner wrote:

"I had always believed that witches belonged to an independent Stone Age cult whose rites were a mixture of superstition and reality ...

... and when I visited the Villa of the Mysteries at Pompeii I realised that the great resemblance to the cult. Apparently these people were using the witches' processes. I know, of course, that ancient and modern writers have agreed that the Greek mysteries of Dionysus, Zeus, Orpheus, Zagreus and Eleusis were similar; therefore since each mystery had different rites and myths but was the same, this must mean that they had some inner secret.

...Scholarship has made repeated efforts to discover what took place until the Villa of the Mysteries was discovered. The paintings contain the answer, for they extend all round the walls of the hall."

At the very centerpiece of the frescoes of the Villa dei Misteri in Pompeii, Italy, appears the Hieros Gamos, the wedding ceremony of Dionysos and Ariadne. Thus, it is clear The Great Rite finds its roots in the rites of ancient Paganism, as rediscovered by Gardener in the frescoes of the Villa of the Mysteries - rather than in Aleister Crowley and the OTO's Thelemic church. In fact, one might even wonder if the ancient Pagan sexual mysteries depicted in the Villa of the Mysteries,  might not be the true source of the sexual mysteries of OTO as well, despite misdirecting OTO origin lore about the orient. This would be the complete opposite of what Barrrabas has suggested.

The Hieros Gamos is by no means the only element of Wiccan ritual originating in the frescoes of the Villa of the Mysteries. For example, the Wiccan use of the scourge figures prominently below where a woman prepares to strike with a whip a young woman who is leaning on another's lap.

So, in response to Brian Watling's (aka Frater Barrabbas) questionable attribution of "The Great Rite" of Wicca to Aleister Crowley and the OTO's Gnostic Church, I have but one question:

"Where is our Wiccan scourge in your Crowelymass?"

Rule No. 1 - When you convert to Thelema from Wicca, don't accuse adherants of your former religion of sectarianism while you misattribute the origins of Wicca to Aleister Crowley. It just makes you look silly!

Personal Temples: A Powerful Message From An Anonymous Golden Dawn Brother

When two years ago the European headquartered Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn® decided to encourage people to construct their own personal Temples to practice Golden Dawn Magick, our "Personal Temples" initiative was greeted by a mixed response. There were of course, nay sayers, who proclaimed that the whole thing was a waste of time and there would never be 1,000 new personal temples. The nay sayers had completely missed the point though. The whole reason for encouraging folks to create their own personal Temple was to foster the growth of the practice of Golden Dawn Magick.

Two years later, evern though we still have not reached our goal of putting 1,000 new personal temples on the map, we have nonetheless achieved this objective. The response by our readers has been overwhelming. All in all, many people around the world have lauded this initiative, and we have been swamped by people wanting to publish photos of their temple here on the Golden Dawn Blog.

May 1,000 Points of Light burn ever brighter, as the Magic of Light illuminates more and more people around the globe!

Solidarity in Standing up to Bullies

Over the past weeks, "Left Hand Path" Pagans, Witches, and Magicians have been openly persecuted on the Internet by Golden Dawn religious extremists, who repeatedly lumped all LHP Pagans, Witches, and Magicians together in one sack, branding them all collectively as "Satanists." Concern about demonisation and religious persecution by Golden Dawn extremists has now spread beyond the Golden Dawn to the Pagan and Thelemic communities. As one mainstream RHP Pagan leader pointed out to me today:

"Branding ALL LHP Pagans and Witches as "Satanists" is the religious equivalent of calling African Americans the "n" word. But then again, religious extremists have been calling all Pagans 'Satanists' for Centuries."

While this may be a bit strong and doesn’t necessarily represent the position of the Alpha Omega, it does point to the perception these attacks have created in the Pagan community.

Sadly, news broke today that - due to on-line persecution by Golden Dawn religious extremists - a few "Left Hand Path" Pagans now fear for their safety to attend the MagickAll 2014 gathering ... 

... and have consequently decided not to come to MagickAll this year. This is a missed opportunity for both Right Hand Path and Left Hand Path Pagans - to meet one another, learn about one another's lore, ways of looking at Magick, to examine and test their assumptions about one another, etc.

This fear of Pagans for their safety is a direct consequence of weeks of religious hatred and intolerance spewed against Left Hand Path Witches on certain Golden Dawn Facebook groups and blogs.

For example, Left Hand Path Witch, Scarlett Marie, today wrote on Facebook:

"Yes, EA [Koetting] will still be [at the MagickAll gathering] from what I know but Nate and I will no longer be..."

Despite my best efforts to promote patience, understanding, and religious tolerance through MagickAll 2014, Golden Dawn extremists have twisted a gathering for tolerance into an on-line platform to spew hatred and terrorise minority Pagans.

Let me be clear about this. I do disagree with many of the philosophical positions and Magickal methods of many practitioners of Left Hand Path Pagans. As a Golden Dawn Magician and Right Hand Path Pagan, I personally see and do things quite differently than they do.

I do not, however, support an entire minority segment of the greater Pagan and Magickal communities fearing for their safety due to terrorism by a handful of Golden Dawn bigots.

One would think that even LHP Witches could come to an intertraditional Pagan and Magickal gathering without fear of persecution.

As a Right Hand Path Pagan, I have been freguently attacked by the same Golden Dawn extremists for 20+ years now, but as a GD leader and a public figure I have thick skin. This does not mean though I am not unconcerned about the way LHP Witches have been terrorized by these people recently. Other RHP Pagan leaders have also shared concern about this religious persecution as well.

LHP Pagans are not the only religious faith targeted by Golden Dawn bigots either. Thelemites have long been discriminated against by them as well. Thelemite Jimmie Steele today wrote:

You don't hold back initiation from them or make them choose one or the other. I know that first welcoming someone, then withholding advancement grades is a common thing in some of the GD orders/lodges. So thank you! ... 

I follow a primal witchcraft path as well, so I think it is great you are not excluding so called "left hand path" magicians or witches. I will admit I am not the biggest fan of Mr. Koetting (his approach, methods, theology, etc), but I do not disapprove of his being there or his ritual etc. We can learn from everybody including him. I know he is a very knowledgeable and experienced magician.  

I applaud you for allowing a left hand path person speak and participate.

In the past two years the Alpha Omega's yearly Spring gathering has been for Golden Dawn Magicians ONLY. We invited people from all the different Golden Dawn orders and their leaders threatened them with expulsion to keep them away.

This year, we open our gathering to ALL Magickal practitioners - and these same Golden Dawn leaders this time say they can’t show up because there are non-GD people doing Magick! 

I say “Make up your mind!” 

Narrow minded bigots have been calling Pagans as Satanists for Centuries, so there is nothing really new about the persecution of Left Hand Path Witches on the Internet by Golden Dawn bullies. I am shocked to witness even certain Golden Dawn Pagans actually mocking the LHP Pagans who no longer feel safe to attend a pan-tradional gathering due to internet bullying. It's a terrible irony that there are people in the oft-persecuted esoteric community using the terminology and tactics of the very people who once tried to burn them at the stake.

What gives such people the right to laugh at someone else's emotional distress due to the heavy bigotry laid against them? Nothing does. These are people that had to undergo a lot of shaming already, and now members from our own community are discriminating against them and then laughing at them for not being so resilient to their attacks? Wow!

One thing is certain. Magickall 2014 opens tomorrow and remains open to Magicians and Pagans oa ALL traditions. Plenty of good people are coming - from all walks of life as well as from a vast array of various religious faiths and Magickal traditions. Stand together with us in facing down religious bigotry, intolerance, and internet bullying.
