UNMASKED: "Anonymous Nick" Farrell Sock Puppet Flip-Flops on Golden Dawn Lineage

Nick Farrell recently wrote on his blog:

"A few blogs have appeared attempting to discredit ... my ... involvement with Whare Ra. ... When it comes down to it, these comments are usually written by those who do not have any real connection to the Golden Dawn and have lineage envy."

I am pleased to see Nick Farrell finally advocates the importance of Golden Dawn lineage, even from such a dubious source as the OTR after Whare Ra closed. Although he put his foot in his mouth, Farrell has in writing adopted a position similar to mine on the importance of lineage in the Golden Dawn.

In all fairness, I should mention though that Mr. Farrell quickly backpeddled and published a vacuous denial on blog anonymously published by Mr. Farrell's sock puppet, "Anonymous Nick."

Nonethess, despite Mr. Farrell's sock puppetry, flip-flopping, and vacuous denials, there is no doubt what the expression "lineage envy" means. Mr. Farrell can not erase what he wrote merely by sticking his hand up a puppet's garments.

"Anonymous Nick" went on to suggest that there no Hermetic, Rosicruican, or Golden Dawn lineages exist in the GD today because no one today can produce an unbroken paper trail of charters back to S.L. MacGregor Mathers. Sch an assertion demonstrates profound ignorance regarding the true nature of lineage in spiritual traditions. Such ignorance in turn arises from a conflation of the Golden Dawn with Freemasonry, where paper trails of charters are so desperately coveted by lodges. This is, however, a completely inappropriate yardstick for the Golden Dawn. "Anonymous Nick" does not even understand that the Golden Dawn is not a fringe Freemasonic rite! In reality, the Golden Dawn is one of the world's great spiritual initiatic traditions, not unlike Zen and Tibeten Buddhism in the East, where lineage is spiritual and therefore means something completely different than it does in Freemasonry.

The concept of lineage is found not only in Western esoteric orders, but also in the great spiritual traditions of the East, as well as in Christianity and Freemasonry in the West.

In Christianity, the doctrine of Apostolic Succession maintains that the Christian Church today is the spiritual successor to the original body of believers in Christ, composed of the Apostles. In pre-Protestant Reformation Churches, Apostolic Succession is claimed as having been passed through unbroken lines of bishops beginning with the original Apostles.

In its formal aspect, lineage may amount to little more than a formal means of mutual recognition, as in the case of Freemasonry, which exclusively uses paper trails of charters and systems of mutual recognition between Grand lodges to establish what Freemasonry calls ‘regularity.’

Of course, in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and in the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega, we do alsso have our charters, which we are very proud of, yet unlike Mr. Farrell's sock puppet, we understand that there is much more to spiritual lineage than pieces of paper. The Golden Dawn is not unique in in this regard, either.

In Western esotericism, numerous orders use lineage as a means of ensuring a direct transmission of spiritual principles and energies. Lineage, like trademarks, is also a basic form of protection for the public, that what members find is actually what they associate with the name or the spiritual tradition. Who wants to join a Martinist order, only to find Hindu teachings instead, or to join the Golden Dawn looking for tradtional initiation and to learn Hermetic and Rosicrucian magic and alchemy, only to find Mystical practices, New Age teachings, or "Astral" initiation instead?

Martinist orders, for examples all claim lineage deriving from Louis-Claude de St. Martin. L'Ordre Martiniste (the Martinist Order) came about in 1884 when Gerard Encausse (Papus) met August Chaboseau. They discovered that they had both apparently received Martinist initiation through two different chains of succession which linked back to Saint-Martin and his original disciples. Papus claimed to have come into the possession of the original papers of de Pasqually and to have been given authority in the Rite of Saint-Martin by his friend Henri Viscount Delaage. However, Encausse realized that there was a "missing link" in his own chain of succession: he and Chaboseau therefore "swapped initiations" in order to consolidate their lineages.

Let us recall again that the Golden Dawn is first and foremost a spiritual tradition. Therefore, charters and such, are not all that matter. In all of the great spiritual traditions, both East and West, lineage carries with it a spiritual transmission or realization, as in the case of Dharma transmission in Zen Buddhism.

Zen Buddhism, for example, maintains records of their historical teachers who, according to the traditional history of that school, have passed the Dharma from generation to generation in an unbroken line since the time of the Buddha. Dharma transmission is the formal confirmation by a master of Zen or Chan Buddhism of a student's awakening. This one-to-one transmission is said to trace back over 2,500 years to Gautama Buddha when he gave dharma transmission to his disciple Mahakasyapa, who is regarded as the first patriarch of Zen in India.

I have often heard people in the Golden Dawn community say that: "Lineage does not matter. What matters is to do the work." This is certainly half true. "To do the work," however, one must have the necessary spiritual practices, as is the case with the Buddhist lineages.

The various lineages of the Alpha Omega carry with them a vast corpus of knowledge and spiritual practices from the Hermetic and Rosicrucian traditions. These include advanced magical and Hermetic Internal Alchemical systems that the Alpha Omega already shares with a number of traditional Golden Dawn orders.

What those like Mr. Farrell's "anonymous" sock ppuppet, completely fail to understand is that, as one of the great spiritual traditions of the world, the ultimate aim of the Golden Dawn is to help individuals "to become more than human,” which means spiritual development through energetic evolution.

"Anonymous Nick" ignorantly defines Golden Dawn lineage as mere paper trails like in Freemasonry. If Mr. Farrell and his sock puppet had access to the Golden Dawn's advanced Hermetic and Rosicrucian spiritual techniques and realizations beyond the elementary material published by Regardie, they would not so lightly dismiss a spiritual lineage as important as the Golden Dawn."

The Spiritual Mission of the 

Alpha Omega

The Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega is not just a merely "Golden Dawn" order. Golden Dawn Scandal: Nick Farrell Abandons Golden Dawn

Yesterday, Nick Farrell published an article entitled, "The Magical Order of the Aurora Aurea is not a Golden Dawn Group" that you can read HERE. In this astonishing article, Mr. Farrell forever disavows the Golden Dawn:

"MOAA continues to be ...

 ... a traditional magic order ...

... but is not ... 

...a traditional Golden Dawn order."

To abjure a tradition such as the Golden Dawn, with such a long, proven a track record in making Magicians - in order to create an order according to one's own personal vision - is a step as ambitious as it is audacious.

In their departure from the Golden Dawn, I congratulate Mr. Farrell for his courage - and wish the students of the Magical Order of the Aurora Aurea all the best in the new direction they have embarked upon.

The Astonishing Conclusion of Nick Farrell's "Secret Chiefs Challenge"

Today is August 5 and Nick Farrell's 

"Secret Chiefs Challenge" is officially over!

"If I can't catch the Secret Chiefs by August 5 ...

Over the past month Nick Farrell, Chief of the Magical Order of Aurora Aureae and purveyor of occult fantasy novels, endowed our Golden Dawn community with a seemingly endless series of articles about the Golden Dawn's Secret Chiefs.

All of this was part of Farrell's "Secret Chiefs Challenge" in which our intrepid psychonaut challenged the Secret Chiefs to either appear to him by August 5, or consider themselves as non-existent.

During the month there was once or twice I could not resist poking a little fun at Nick, first off with the above image of Farrell acting like a dog chasing his tail.

I thought better of it the next day and took the blog post down. Low and behold, Farrell immediately stole my idea and published his own image of me chasing my tail!

Had it really come to this?

A commenter then pointed out how Farrell's entire "Secret Chiefs' Challenge" reminded her of a schoolyard. She wrote:

"I notice that Nick Farrell copied your dog chasing tail image, turned it around as though the joke was his own, then called YOU a tail chaser. Watch this video as it shows the "mature" mentality we are dealing with:

Another commenter then suggested that Nick Farrell is merely envious of the vast, traditional, supplemental Golden Dawn teachings and Magick recently released by the Secret Chiefs of the A.O.'s Third Order, integrated into all grades from Neophyte up. You can read testimonials regarding these teachings HERE.

She wrote:

"The whole [present Secret Chiefs debate] boils down to: 

"Farrell wants your bike!"

Now that Farrell's "Secret Chiefs Challenge" is officially over, I must admit I never in a million years imagined what a fantasy novel Nick would invent to conclude his "challenge." Farrell came up with an ending worthy of any soap box game show!

Let's see if we can wrap this up by revealing - once and for all - what Nick Farrell has been hiding all along behind The "Secret Chiefs Challenge's" "Door Number One," "Door Number Two," and "Door Number Three."

Behind Door Number One, we find Nick Farrell's original story:

"Anyone who believes in Secret Chiefs is as nutty as a loon."

Then, in a fasciating flip-flop, behind Door Number Two, we discover Nick Farrell's next story:

"The Secret Chief of the Golden Dawn ...
... is really the Archangel Raphael."

Oops! Does this mean that Nick Farrell has been a secret channeller of New Age Secret Chiefs all along?

Allegedly hundreds of years old, the Count of St. Germain is known in New Age and B.O.T.A. circles as Master Racoczi. Nick Farrell, following in the footsteps of Paul Foster Case, today claims that he too has met with Master R., albeit in a coffee shop in Rome near St. Peter's Cathedral.

So as not to be easily recognized, the good Count masked his thick Transylvanian accent and pretended instead to be Corsican. According to Farrell, Master Racoczi has been hiding for the past hundred or so years on the island of Corsica, living with his boyfriend, Guiseppe Balsamo, also apparently immortal, and better known as Count Cagliostro.

Ritual Magick 101: The Lesser Rituals of the Pentagram

Nick Farrell recently republished in interesting article, entitled "In Defense of the Lesser Invoking Pentagram." You can read this article here.

Nick raises several interesting points in the article and, as usual, his style is highly entertaining. Farrell's basic premise is that the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram is overused in contemporary Golden Dawn orders and the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram is underused.

In the Alpha Omega, because first and foremost, we make Magicians, our approach to Golden Dawn magick is admittedly somewhat different than in other Golden Dawn orders. It is therefore not surprising that my position regarding the pentagram rituals is somewhat different than that of Nick Farrell, as well as of leaders of other Golden Dawn orders.

First and foremost, the Alpha Omega is the only Golden Dawn order whose students study and practice Ritual Magic already in our outer order, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. All other Golden Dawn orders, including Mr. Farrell's M.O.A.A., require students to wait four or five years until they reach the Second Order, before they are assisted with the magical practice of anything other than the Middle Pillar of the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram.

Therefore, since there is no other Magick in the Outer Orders of other Golden Dawn groups in our community, is is only natural that they give greater importance  than we do in the Alpha Omega to the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram. Our Outer Order magicians have a larger tool kit to work with and have a broader Magical skill set than in other outer Golden Dawn orders.

This does not mean, however, that we do not at all use the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram in the Alpha Omega. We do use it, however, for very specific purposes. In the A.O., for example, we use the L.I.R.P. to raise energy in the temple in the early part of the Neophyte and Equinox Rituals.

The primary purpose of the Rosicrucian Order of Alpha et Omega is the help aspiring Magicians "to become more than human." In the A.O., our goal in making Magicians is for our students to eventually complete the Opus Magnum, or Great Work. This we understand according to its classic meaning in the Hermetic tradition - the cultivation of a Solar Body of Light, with its attendant higher consciousness through energetic evolution. In short, the Alpha Omega teaches how to "grow Soul" using Ritual Magic and Alchemy.

In the Hermetic tradition, "Soul" is not some abstract concept. It is our energetic essence that survives death, which lies dormant and undeveloped in the vast majority of human beings.

The Golden Dawn method to accomplish this energetic awakening and Soul development involves primarily two things: to charge the energetic body with energy and to purify that energy. The Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram and the Rite of the Middle Pillar are techniques used to charge the energetic body. The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram serves to purify the energy. Here is a video of an Alpha Omega temple performing the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.



In the early Golden Dawn, prior to Crowley and Regardie having published much of the Golden Dawn's second order Magick, the L.I.R.P., the L.B.R.P., and the Middle Pillar were the only Magical techniques given to aspiring Magicians during their entire time in the Outer Order. This remains the case today in all Golden Dawn orders except the Alpha Omega. Since the goal of the Alpha Omega is to make magicians, our outer order Magicians use the entire published Golden Dawn system of Magick already in our undergraduate level outer order, the H.O.G.D.

The reason for this lies hidden in the method to accomplish Soul growth and energetic awakening lies in the initiation rituals of the Elemental Grades of the Golden Dawn's outer order, which are still consistently used all across the Golden Dawn community.

Using these initiations, the Magical Forces of elemental Earth, Air, Water, and Fire are awakened in the Initiate's "Sphere of Sensation" (energetic body, or "Soul") one at a time, then balanced and equilibrated with the element of Spirit in the Golden Dawn's Portal Grade.

The Golden Dawn's system of Ritual Magic does not stop there, however, and neither does beginner's training in the Alpha Omega.

Golden Dawn Ritual Magic systematically awakens in the energetic "Soul" body, not only the Magical Forces of the Elements, but also of the Planets, the Zodiacal signs, and of the Sephiroth.

In the Alpha Omega, we use this system of Astrological Magic as the primary tool for energetic "Soul" growth for beginning Magicians in our First Order (undergradute level).

In this system, the Rite of the Middle Pillar serves to strengthen the energetic "Soul" by charging it with LVX energy (called chi, kundalini, etc. in the East).

The purpose of systematic and repeated invocation of Magical Forces (Elements, Planets, etc.) in Ritual Magic, is to awaken and balance all the celestial Forces in the energetic "Soul" of the Golden Dawn Magician. The systematic awakening of the celestial Forces in the energetic "Soul" of the Magician is symbolized by the Rose of Spirit (the energetic "Soul") blossoming upon the Cross of Matter (the physical body).

Thus, since Alpha Omega Magicians have a larger magical tool kit in the outer order than do members of other Golden Dawn orders, beginning A.O. Magicians do not need to rely so heavily on the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram as they are in other Golden Dawn orders, such as Mr. Farrell's M.O.A.A. The L.I.R.P. merely charges the energetic body of the Magician or Temple with a lower voltage of L.V.X. than the Middle Pillar. A.O. Magicians instead invoke the actual magical Forces of the Elements, Planets, and signs of the Zodiac, then charge their energetic bodies with the invoked Force using the Middle Pillar ritual.

Thus, in the A.O., our students use the L.I.R.P. primarily as a rapid substitute on occasions when there is not time for a full Middle Pillar, such as in the morning when getting ready for work and A.O. temples use the L.I.R.P. as a general invocation when opening the Temple in the Neophyte grade as was shown above (Note that in the A.O. the LIRP is always preceded and followed by the LBRP for purification reasons).

In conclusion, let me remind you that I am not saying there are no other ways of working with Golden Dawn Magic. There is a big difference in the methods used, however, from one Golden Dawn order to the other, as well as in their respective training goals.

In the Alpha Omega, our training methods are geared for our goal to make Magicians faster and easier and for our students to rapidly and fully cultivate their immortal Solar bodies. This why, unlike other Golden Dawn orders, the A.O. teaches students Ritual Magic from day one. It is also why our entire Magical and Alchemical Curriculum is finely honed for the fastest and easiest energetic "Soul growth" possible.

I am not saying the Alpha Omega is superior to other Golden Dawn or Rosicrucian orders. We merely have different goals - and as a consequence - we use different training methods.
